What windows and doors are fashionable in 2023? Although an investment in joinery is a purchase for years and in the first place you should always be guided by the high quality and functionality of the products, there are several trends worth noting on the market.

What definitely draws attention, and makes it difficult for investors to make a decision, is the multitude of available solutions - both in terms of technology and materials, as well as colors and styles of windows and doors. Fans of a minimalist block, a barn-type house, a classic manor house or a country-style house will easily find something for themselves.

In the article, we present 4 architectural trends regarding the selection of windows and doors, which are definitely on top in 2023.

Trend 1. Large glazing

A clear trend that can be observed for several seasons is the growing size of windows. The trend in single-family housing today is large glazing that opens the house to greenery and blurs the border between the interior and the garden.

This applies primarily to glazing in the living area. Sliding or lift-and-slide systems instead of traditional windows and doors to the terrace in the living room are already standard in new homes, especially those from the premium segment .

It is worth adding to this the growing popularity of houses in the type of a modern barn, in which the living area has an above-standard ceiling height and often an almost entirely glazed wall from the garden side. Such a house is bright and full of light, and the effect is especially impressive when the building is surrounded by greenery or stands in a place with nice views.

Sliding systems , such as the Legend Slide sliding system from Lanko . The profiles here have a slender appearance, imitating aluminum joinery . Thanks to this, the glazing area can be even larger, and the glass provides excellent lighting.

Another solution that fits into this trend is the HST lift and slide door system from Lanko . The possibility of using a low fixed glazing profile allows more natural light to enter the interior, and additional reinforcement allows the creation of fashionable high structures.

Trend 2. Black window profiles and black doors

Until recently, windows in houses were only white, which was caused by the lower technological capabilities of window joinery manufacturers. However, for many seasons in architectural trends in single- and multi-family housing, colors have been indivisibly ruling.

What shades of window and door profiles are currently on top? Anthracite windows definitely took the first place, and recently also black ones, especially in the matte version.

Why is black windows so popular? They match the currently fashionable, minimalist and industrial blocks of houses, as well as gray and graphite roofs, which are the most common choice in new construction. Black is a universal color - it looks great surrounded by many other shades, and it creates particularly successful combinations with white, gray and cool shades of wood, e.g. oak or larch.

In addition to black and graphite, windows and doors in light gray (gray) and various shades of wood are also becoming more and more popular. Wooden coloring is found in traditional construction, but also in fashionable houses in the type of modern barn or in houses inspired by nature.

Trend 3. Wooden like windows

In 2023, house designs that strongly focus on a natural look are also coming back into favor. This trend can be seen not only in architecture, but also in interiors - investors are now most eager to arrange themselves in japandi , boho or scandi styles , i.e. in styles inspired by the beauty of nature. In the case of windows and doors, this means a fashion for wooden products or products that look like they are made of wood.

Wooden windows look beautiful, but they have a lot of disadvantages. These include less resistance to rain, snow and frost than other materials , and the need for regular maintenance. For this reason, there are solutions on the market that 100% match the appearance of traditional wooden windows, but do not have the properties of this material.

Such possibilities are provided, for example, by the HFL technology used in Lanko windows. It allows you to connect window profiles not at an angle of 45 degrees as in ordinary PVC windows, but at an angle of 90 degrees as in traditional wooden windows.

Thanks to this, the windows look like wood, but they do not require such maintenance treatments as wood, and additionally they are available in many different colors and types of finishes.

Trend 4. Ecology, nature and energy efficiency on top

Until recently, parameters such as the heat transfer coefficient or other aspects of the house's thermal insulation were not the most important for many investors. Today, with rising energy prices and house maintenance costs, the tightness of windows and doors has become a priority.

Therefore, investors are looking for joinery at the highest level of thermal insulation and are increasingly aware of the role that windows and doors play in future savings on heating costs. This trend was also fueled by the great popularity of government programs such as Clean Air or the thermo-modernization relief .

More and more attention is paid to ecological issues. People are starting to pay attention to natural materials and production technologies that do not harm the environment. In addition, there is an increasing interest in products that are fully recyclable, such as Lanko windows. So far, this has been paid attention mainly to investments in large commercial or public utility projects, but now more and more people who build a house for themselves and their family are also guided by these criteria.
